Well August 1st is coming soon and this is the day which Mats Sundin said he make a decision on where he plays next year. I doubt he will be back in Toronto despite claiming he loves it here and it is the only place he wants to play. The reality is Toronto will not pay him the money he wants and money really talks. If it was close in money I could see it but the reality is the Leafs are not going to hand him the world. They are rebuilding and no where near winning a Stanley Cup.
Mats has talked to the Montreal Canadiens as well. Personally I would like to see this happen but I do not thin it will. Montreal is a team on the way up and a legitimate Stanley Cup contender. The only issue is Sundin was only offered 7 million dollars. That is a lot of money but it will not be enough unless wining the big one is more important then greed.
The third option is he can retire. Personally I do not see this happening. He is still young and playing great hockey.
Last but not least, Vancouver has offered Sundin 20 Million dollars over 2 years. I suspect he will take the money and run then retire.
